An explanation to the links in my sidebar:

Gizmodo
Gizmodo is pretty much your standard technology blog. It's the first tech blog I've ever followed, which is one of the reasons I've decided to post it here. It focuses mainly on consumer electronics, but once in a while you'll also find a post about new scientific breakthroughs or new medical technology. It definitely contributed to my interest in medical technology as well. I feel what sets Gizmodo apart is that it doesn't always take itself so seriously; you'll often find humorous posts right there in between the regular news stories. They also just don't report the news, the editors usually give their opinion as well. All in all, it's a fantastic blog if you're even slightly interested in technology.

Engadget

Engadget is another typical technology blog, and typically has stories very similar to gizmodo. However, there are a few things that set it apart that I feel warrants a post here. While they also focus mainly on consumer electronics, I’ve seen many more posts about medical technology than on gizmodo. You’ll also notice they have a slightly different tone, being a little more serious.  Let’s just say you’ll be far safer browsing engadget over gizmodo at work. I’ve found many interesting posts and features about new medical breakthroughs on engadget, as well as the usual tech news which is why I continue to follow it.

io9 is not really your typical blog. Their tagline reads “we come from the future”, and that’s about the best description of the blog that I can think of. It’s basically a science fiction blog, which also discusses future technology, and how we can achieve technology seen in science fiction. You’ll often find posts about new and future medical technologies, as well as your favorite science fiction comics, books and movies. It’s basically many of my interests in a single blog. If my blog proves to be of any interest to you, I know io9 will as well.

The Science daily is a great source of information for the latest science research.  They have a complete section dedicated to health and medicine, which is why it’s one of my top sources for stories. There are plenty of fascinating scientific articles to be found here, expanding far more than what I cover here. From plants and animals to space and time, there are articles for every scientific interest.

The Consumerist is a blog that deals with consumer related issues. I’ve chose to link it here because while pharmaceutical products as well as health insurance companies are consumer issues, they are also related to what I cover here. They often cover issues that people face with health insurance companies, as well as new drugs and pharmaceutical products. I fell it sort of branches off nicely to what I cover in this blog.

The Healthcare Blog obviously covers the latest healthcare developments, and is actually cited by both The Wall Street Journal and WebMD as one of the best independent voices concerning healthcare out there.  I’ve decided to link to this blog because the material covered is similar to what I cover, as well as the fact that the author has a distinct viewpoint on healthcare.

Drugs.com is an online database of every kind of drug available. It is a great resource to find information regarding any kind of drug out there. I’ve decided to link it here because it is a great way to find information when you come across a drug you are unfamiliar with referenced in a post.  In addition, they also report on new drugs being tested, as well as many other drug related issues.
